ODM Presidential Nominations: This Is The Shocking Thing That Happened Behind The Scenes

Is This Democratic Choreography?

During the ODM presidential nominations exercise at Kasarani last week, Raila Odinga could be seen consulting with various officials on the floor from time to time.

Today we can reveal what really went on behind the scenes during those so-called elections, which many critics of ODM and the Langata MP have described as choreographed.

The first strange thing in the "election results" was the fact that Musali Mudavadi beat Ruto. Simple arithmetic will tell you that this would have been virtually impossible considering the number of delegates representing Kalenjin, Rift Valley. Impeccable sources have informed me that Ruto actually beat Mudavadi but their results were switched round at the last minute to have Mudavadi beating Ruto so as to justify Raila selecting him as running mate and the VP should he form the next government.

It was felt by the ODM presidential candidates, who had a lengthy meeting at Safari Park hotel on the morning of that big day, that Ruto would not be good in terms of image because of his past links to corruption. Mudavadi, it was felt, was the cleaner candidate.

But even more telling was the delegates list for Kasarani. No other secret within ODM is more guarded at the moment.

Those who have seen the list have a fascinating tale to tell. For example A Mr Oloo was head of the Limuru delegates and close to 90% of the delegates from Central province were Luos. Desperate efforts by members of the press to get hold of that delegates list have failed and my sources say that even if a list is finally released to the press, it will not be the correct one.

There is of course nothing wrong with all this, every party is free to run things as they see fit. My only worry, and this should be the worry of every Kenyan, is if similar tactics will be used from State house to keep Kenyans in the dark over what is really happening, if Mr Odinga is elected president.

I have said here again and again that Mr Odinga is the cleanest of all the presidential candidates (and time will prove that statement accurate) however he is clearly from the old school and is bound to do things in the same way that former president Moi and Kibaki have done them. It is therefore my opinion that electing Odinga will NOT achieve a clean break with the past, which is what Kenya needs desperately at this time.

Such tactics by Mr Odinga are a political strategy to create an image of being popular in suspect provinces. Well, that's politics, but what will happen when election day arrives, because we definitely do not have enough Mr Oloo's to carry the day in Limuru?

Still it seems that unless something dramatic happens between now and the elections to bring in a viable fourth candidate, the best option currently is Raila.

But I have still not given up and my hunch is that Kenyans are in for a surprise. Keep your eyes on this space.

Chris,

Your credebility is on the the line regarding this issue.

Just to differentiate yourself from the bar gossip:
Can you prove beyond shred of doubt the allegation your are making?
If this is not hearsay, which can be unfortunate, can you provide the full names of the Luos you claim?(remembernot everybody with a Luo name is a Luo e.g Opondo,Obondo etc)
-Is it not prudent as a blogger and online journalist of your standing to have interviewed the delegates as Nation did seehttp://allafrica.com/stories/200709040184.html)
- You reported that you were at Kasarani during the ODM nominations, did you sense the discrepancy then and why did you not report it your blod? Don you admit that you failed your readers given that this "Raila fraud" was the most important thing.
-Have you interviewed Justice Kwach of ODM Election Board on the matter? Have they decline to provide the list to Kumekucha?
- Whoever gave you the name of Oloo should have given you his full names; would you post any information in Jukwaa if its half-baked( so long as it is sensational?)
-Accounting to your own investigations, who should have won the ODM presidential elections and by what margin?
- If there was backroom deal, how come Musalia never stepped down like Balala did and remember the response of western delegates to this.
And lastly, rememeber that this event was televised live with the highest number of journalists(both local and international including ours truly who reported truth, nothing but the whole truth.

Chris,
I think you have got this one wrong, just like you did with the Linah Kilimo story.

Chris,

What you have said here is true. I was at Kasarani and it is clear that this was a luo affair.

Even Justice Kwach, a man of high stature in Kenya, spoke unashamadly in dholuo on the podium once in a while. What a shame!

He was put there strategically by Raila (alongside the other thousands of his tribesmen who were all over the place!) , a man who claims to be a nationalist.

This is a clear indication of the kind of tribalist he will be when president.

Note: Luke 16:Jesus says "The man who is faithful in the little things will be faithful in the big things, and the man who cheats in the little things will cheat in the big things too"

Pls Don't kill the messenger!

Chris,

I can assure you that if you went to each constituency in Nyanza today, you can easyly come up with a list of 20 names from diffent tribes from each constituency. The fact that some delegates from Central were luos is not a wonder. It is obvious that luos stay and work in some of the towns in central provice, just like other tribes stay and work in differnt parts of Nyanza. It is also a known fact that ODM does not have major following in central province so we realy don't expect much from that province.
