Even as some Kenyans are highly expectant of a handshake or agreement of some sort coming out of the ongoing talks between Raila and Ruto teams to end political tensions in the country, the emerging realities on the ground tell us a very different story. And they tell us clearly the bad news; we should not expect much to come out of the talks.
Both history and the characters of the main players dissuades any serious observer or analyst looking at this any other way.
Here we also dig deep into what really happened with the Kibaki and Raila negotiations in 2008, which is very relevant and instructive to our situation today because one of the major current players has many similarities in their character to that of the late Mwai Kibaki. Both have very consistently displayed narcissistic tendencies.
Negotiating with a narcissist can be more than challenging and is often a very frustrating experience. Narcissists have a unique way of thinking and approaching negotiations that can make it virtually impossible to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
When you try to negotiate with a narcissist, their primary focus is typically on themselves and their own needs. They may have an inflated sense of self-importance and believe that they are always right. This can lead them to dismiss or disregard the other perspective, making it challenging to find common ground.
Narcissists also tend to have a strong desire for control and power. They may view negotiations as an opportunity to assert dominance and manipulate the situation in their favor. They may employ tactics such as gaslighting, deflecting blame, or using emotional manipulation to gain the upper hand.
Ultimately, negotiating with a narcissist can be a waste of time because they often lack empathy or concern for others' needs. Their primary goal is typically self-serving, and they may prioritize their own desires over finding a mutually beneficial solution.

It is widely believed that Hezekiah Oyugi developed his close relationship with Daniel Toroitich arap Moi when the latter was still Vice President and during
Oyugi's tenure as Nakuru DC.
And so when Mzee Jomo Kenyatta suddenly passed on in August 1978, Moi was at his Kabarak farm and had to be transported safely to Nairobi to be sworn in as President through possible road blocks set up along the way to finish him off.
Even as dark clouds hang over the nation of Kenya spiritually, some Kenyans have a very bad feeling about this August 2023. And they are convinced that something very big is coming. And it could quite possibly be linked to the dramatic events that have unfolded in the country over the last two months or so.
Since Kenya attained her independence and even before, the month of August seems to have a streak of bad luck for politicians in Kenya. Disasters too have happened in Kenya in August. Game-changing major events have also unfolded in this same dreaded month. GET FULL DETAILS ON: Kenyans Beware The Month of August: Major event loading

Olusegun Obasanjo, a prominent Nigerian statesman, is set to play a crucial role as a mediator in the Kenya peace talks between Raila and Ruto, even as maandamano continue. But what most Kenyans do not realize is that he has been here before, playing the same role. That was in 2008 during the bloody post election violence that erupted after Mwai Kibaki rigged the 2007 presidential polls.

The executive decision to retire the old Kshs 1,000 note resulted in a loss of billions of shillings from the personal kitty election war chest of the then DP Ruto.
Most Kenyans were not aware of it, but the appointment of the new director of public prosecutions Noordin Haji to be Ruto's first National Intelligence Services Director General was very significant for anybody following up on clues to answer many disturbing questions concerning what exactly happened last August during the mysterious Presidential elections. John Jomo succeeded in his prayers to the court and Justice Jairus Ngaah issued an injunction prohibiting the agency from requiring Jomo Kenyatta junior to surrender his pistol without first going through the laid down legal process. But how will the Ruto government respond? Here are a few possible "crazy" scenarios.
Those who saw Hussein Mohamed during his distinguished career as a Citizen TV journalist may be excused for feeling pity for him watching his body language a few hours ago as he fielded a question about Raila's claim that President Ruto invited the Tanzanian president to Kenya to mediate talks between him and Raila Odinga, only to snub her. President Samia Suluhu Hassan then left the country after two nights at a Nairobi hotel waiting in vain.
Mohamed started off laughing nervously when the question was posed. He then followed it up with his shifty answer which hardly made sense.
In just a handful of days, what happened in Nyalenda, Kisumu recently has moved from being highly sensitive to the Ruto government to something being discussed openly. And surprisingly, the international media and community are suddenly leading the discussions and showing great concern.
Raila Odinga in a press conference with the international press in Nairobi yesterday even went on to use the phrase “ethnic cleansing” and made comparisons with similar happenings from the past from all over the world.Read Chris Kumekucha full article
