Is it not strange that when asked about the Raila chopper attack, Gladys Boss Shollei, the Uasin Gishu womens rep responded by hitting out at President Uhuru Kenyatta's remarks on the incident instead?
Uhuru has condemned the attack on ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s in Soy and Iten on Friday. Speaking after attending a church service at AIC Pipeline Church, Nairobi on Sunday 3rd April 2022 where he officially opened a new tuition block of the AIC Pipeline Academy and later joined worshippers for a church service, the Head of State condemned politics of chaos and violence, urging political leaders to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner devoid of pitting Kenyans against each other.
“There is no need for violence. Why are you stoning a helicopter carrying Baba? How will that help you? If anything catastrophic occurred as a result of that, wouldn’t the country be on fire? Is that what we want?” he posed
He added; “Let us ask for votes in a respectful and peaceful manner,” he said
Shollei in her response was echoing what Soy MP Caleb Kositany had said a day earlier.
Speaking after recording his statement over the incident on Sunday, the MP castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta for what he called sensationalizing the issue.
"I want to tell the president that we all voted for him and he has the mandate to protect all of us, so he should rise from the petty politics and be the president that we voted for. The statement he has made today (Sunday) is unfortunate for those of us who voted for him and we want to tell him that he can do better than that," he said.
