About a month ago, Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju claimed Deputy President William Ruto was unfit for leadership. And now it seems that President Uhuru Kenyatta has told Kenyans precisely why. The President recently narrated how his deputy William Ruto had planned to impeach him.
Uhuru chose his address to over 3000 elders from the Mount Kenya region at State house, Nairobi to give the most detailed explanation yet of the real reasons behind his fall out with his deputy.
The President said that he was tricked into taking charge of government as Ruto handled the Jubilee party where he caused mischief aimed at weakening Uhuru politically.
Uhuru also claimed Ruto wanted Raila arrested and prosecuted after he was sworn as “peoples president” in January 2018.
The president further disclosed that even before that, Ruto was encouraging opposition protests in 2017 while at the same time inciting Uhuru to clamp down on them.
Ruto has vehemently denied the accusations.
